The Bell Is Hiring: Social Media Manager
The Bell is a leading independent media outlet based in Europe delivering in-depth coverage of Russia’s economy and politics. In a nutshell: you’ll take over social media accounts that are currently underdeveloped, come up with your own strategy to grow them, and execute it. Using The Bell’s editorial content as your foundation, you’ll build an engaged audience — and ultimately help convert that audience into subscribers to our paid newsletter.
What you'll do
- You will be fully responsible for managing and growing all of our social media accounts — including Twitter, LinkedIn, and Substack.
- Run our day-to-day social media operations: write and publish posts about the most important economic and political developments related to Russia, both by drawing on the newsroom’s expertise and by independently tracking the agenda.
- Adapt and repurpose content produced by The Bell’s editorial team for social media.
- Conduct influencer outreach: identify, pitch, and build relationships with voices in finance, economics, and the Russia-watching community.
Who you are
- An SMM manager with 3+ years of experience, preferably in the news industry, with a strong understanding of Russia-related political and economic developments.
- …or a journalist with strong knowledge of Russia-related political and economic developments and solid experience managing social media.
- Comfortable running social media growth and outreach independently, with a proven track record.
- Fluent English — native or near-native level.
- Bonus: experience working with subscription products, newsletters, or media organizations.
Key performance metrics
- Growth of our social media audience.
- New-to-paid conversion rate — turning readers into subscribers of our paid newsletter.
