Hello! This week we outline where Russia sits in the global AI race, and its latest efforts to exert control over the homegrown Kremlin-approved AI industry.
Sovereign AI
While OpenAI is trying to secure White House support in return for a 5% stake, in Russia, the authorities are exerting full control over the country’s entire AI sector. The Ministry of Digital Development has introduced a special bill that would help go about it, the core message of which is: if you want to prosper, work with the state. Government support and opportunities will go to models that are placed under close state oversight.
